I joined Get in Shape in December. I saw an ad that said there were small groups, a personal trainer, nutrition guidance and a free week. My past 2 attempts to get in shape ended within a week due to either over-crowding or lack of guidance. I was at the highest weight of my life and breathing heavy walking the dog and I didn’t have a lot of spare time. Get in Shape exceeded my expectations.
Three 1-hour sessions a week are totally productive. An interactive nutrition program helps in making balanced dietary choices. The staff and the other members are very supportive. Bonus: I lost 20 pounds, 3 sizes and I can keep up with the dog on our daily walk without panting.

My story is like most busy moms. Typical days are spent keeping my family and household running. I am 44, have a wonderful husband, two daughters and three dogs (could never keep the fish alive!). Like most wives and mothers, I put my needs last and my family's first. My days can easily become excessively filled with the required and often daunting minutia of life: getting kids to and from school/sports/friends, keeping up with the never ending pile oflaundry, having a quick and well-received response to"what's for dinner?", ... and so it goes ....all the while, taking less care of myself just because I didn't make the time. Grazing throughout the day in lieu of proper meals became the norm and the pounds began to slowly increase. Always a "thin" person, I didn't feel good physically or emotionally. Unlike a typical gym, GISFW is focused on working and supporting you every step of the way with a personal trainer and meal plan suggestions to help you to realize your weight loss and fitness goals. Working out in a small group of four women makes it more fun! I never thought I'd laugh so hard while strength and cardio training, that's for sure! Our trainer, supports, motivates and at times challenges us (despite my occasional whining!...! can hear him say "push through it, Kelly, you can do it" practically in my sleep!) and we, in turn, encourage each other.
The owner is always there with a smile and an encouraging word (especially on weighin days!). I really look forward to going and I have never felt that way about a gym before. After just 8 weeks, I lost about 8 lbs and dropped a dress size! I have better muscle tone, more energy and sleep soundly at night. I wanted to lose weight and I needed one program that addressed in total the essentials of weight loss, and Get In Shape accomplished that. The program addresses proper nutrition and the importance of getting the right balance of protiens, carbohydrates and fats in my meals, it includes pre scheduled workouts three times a week and weigh-ins every two weeks, which kept me accountable to the program.
